Türkiye Earthquake

In the early hours of 6th Feb 2023, Türkiye and Syria were hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake.

Soon this was followed by two subsequent earthquakes with similar power.

The death toll is currently reported to be 45,000 and is expected to exceed that. People have been left without shelter in freezing winter conditions and desperately need blankets, emergency shelter, food and clean water.

The earthquake also hit areas in northwest Syria, which continues to be heavily affected by conflict. It hosts the majority of the 6.7 million people who have had to leave their homes because of conflict.

Your help is needed now

Your donation will enable us to provide shelter, food, water, fuel and medical care for those who have been injured and are desperately in need.

People in poorer countries are at least five times more likely to be displaced by extreme weather than people in rich countries. All of these issues are the most devastating to the people who have the least resources to cope with them – the world’s poorest, most marginalised people.

Our partners were amongst the first responders and have been working around the clock to provide essential relief but much more is needed. Our immediate priority is healthcare, shelter, blankets and providing food and clean water.
